IPL 2019: KKR vs. DC Player Ratings
On April 12, 2019, Delhi Capitals took on the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. After being put into bat by DC, KKR managed to post a total of 178/7 in 20 overs thanks to Shubman Gill (65 runs from 39 balls) and Andre Russell (45 runs from 21 balls). In return, DC put on a really tough fight and reached the target in the 19th over. Shikhar Dhawan was the hero for DC with an unbeaten 97 runs. DC won the match by 7 wickets.

Kolkata Knight Riders:
Kolkata succumbed to their second loss in a row as they were just outplayed on their home turf. With the bat, it was just Shubman Gill and Andre Russell who played well. Other players just failed to play around them. Even in the bowling department, they failed to perform well. As a result, KKR lost the match in convincing fashion.

This was Joe Denly’s golden opportunity to take Chris Lynn’s spot in the playing XI, but his golden duck on debut means that he may never get an opportunity to play again. He could’ve helped his team get off to a good start, instead he failed miserably with the bat.
Shubman Gill (Runs: 65 St.Rate: 166.67)
Rating: 7/10
Usually, Shubman Gill bats in the middle order and hasn’t had his moment to shine yet. Hence, when finally given the opportunity to open the innings, he made full use of it. He got the team off to a good start and played some really good cricketing shots. He could’ve scored a few more runs if he had played a bit more carefully.
Robin Uthappa (Runs: 28 St.Rate: 93.33)
Rating: 3/10
Though he was involved in a good partnership with Shubman Gill, he really failed to get going. He could’ve scored more runs had he played with a bit more intent.
Nitish Rana (Runs: 11 St.Rate: 91.67 Wickets: 1 Eco.Rate: 6)
Rating: 5/10
Though Nitish Rana failed to contribute much with the bat, he proved quite useful with the ball. He even picked up the wicket of Rishabh Pant who was looking dangerous. He should’ve been given more overs to bowl as he was KKR’s best bowler in this match.
Andre Russell (Runs:45 St.Rate:214.29 Wickets: 1 Eco.Rate:9.67)
Rating: 5/10
Andre Russell played a beautiful cameo that helped increase KKR’s run-rate. However, he failed to play till the end of the innings and fell cheaply to Chris Morris. With the bowl, he was quite expensive. It could be because of an injury in his leg. After failing to bowl his full quota of overs, he was limping off the ground. Russell is KKR’s biggest match-winner and hence, a much better performance than this is always expected from him.
Dinesh Karthik (Runs: 2 St.Rate: 66.67)
Rating: 1/10
Dinesh Karthik demoted himself in the batting order to number 6. Coming in at such a crucial moment in the match, Karthik failed to get going and score any runs. He possessed the experience and skill to elevate his team’s run-rate further but failed to do so.3
Carlos Brathwaite (Runs: 6 St.Rate:85.71 Wickets: 0 Eco.Rate: 13)
Rating: 1/10
Carlos Brathwaite failed to contribute anything in the match for KKR. He failed to score many runs with the bat and was quite expensive with the ball. Though he bowled just one over, he failed to instill any confidence in skipper Dinesh Karthik that would allow him to bowl another over.
Piyush Chawla (Runs: 14 St.Rate: 233.33 Wickets: 0 Eco.Rate: 12.35)

With the bat, Chawla played a small cameo that helped his team reach a total of 178. But with the ball, he failed to pick up wickets and was too expensive.
Kuldeep Yadav (Runs: 2 St.Rate:100 Wickets: 0 Eco.Rate: 7)
Rating: 4/10
Kuldeep Yadav was one of the most economical bowlers for his team, but he couldn’t take any wicket that would’ve helped his team.
Prasidh Krishna (Wickets: 1 Eco.Rate: 8.33)
Rating: 4.5/10
Krishna bowled quite decently and picked up the opening wicket for his team. Maybe, if KKR had a bit more runs to defend, he could’ve been their difference maker.
Lockie Ferguson (Wickets: 0 Eco.Rate: 12.33)
Rating: 0/10
Lockie Ferguson was really disappointing with the ball. He kept bowling short balls that were easy to dispatch to the boundary. He also bowled in the slot quite frequently which is the reason for his high economy rate. If Lockie wants to keep playing in the playing XI, he needs to pick up more wickets and bowl with a lot more variation.
