IPL 2019 Twitter Watch: After RCB, Mumbai Indians engage in banter with CSK
2019 is all set for a lot of cricketing action, what with the much anticipated World Cup coming in after a gap of four long years, among other competitions. However, prior to that, we'll have a couple of months to spare for some local game as the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be back with its 12th season in a row.
The set of fixtures for the first phase of the tournament that will be held in India is already out - as we all know. The dates have been cleared by the Election Commission of India, keeping in mind the tentative dates for the 2019 General Assembly Elections. IPL set to begin on 23rd March 2019, with current champions Chennai Super Kings taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore - no one could have asked for a better start to this firecracker tournament.
Another equally attention-grabbing game would be the one supposed to be held on the 3rd of April - a high-profile game between Chennai Super Kings and probably their biggest rivals till date - the Mumbai Indians. The game will be held on Mumbai's home at Wankhede, and it already promises to be the hottest game of the first phase of the upcoming IPL season. Both teams are previous IPL winners (three times each)
Fanbases of both Mumbai and Chennai are equally stoked about the match, which will be held a day after India's 8-years' anniversary of the iconic World Cup Win of 2011 - incidentally held at the same venue, and where MS Dhoni himself had the last laugh. The games between the two sides have always garnered a lot of attention owing to several factors like the players that have turned up for either side, the electric atmosphere, and the fantastic set of fans that would give any other team a run for their money.
Mumbai Indians even took to Twitter to share their thoughts:
Needless to say, the tweet garnered a lot of reactions, with hordes of fans replying in threads as to what they would be expecting. The biggest (and best) reply of all, came when the opposition themselves, spoke up:
Now that is one fantastic way to set the tone for the upcoming duel and make an impact on their hosts way ahead of the actual contest.
