The IPL caravan moved on to Kolkata for the 43rd match of the season. It turned out to be another thriller. KKR was put in to bat and Shubman Gill and Lynn came out to open the innings.

Varun Aaron removed Lynn in the very first over. Then on, KKR kept losing wickets and it was their skipper Kathik's knock that saved the innings. Dinesh Karthik scored an unbeaten 97 of 50 balls and helped KKR post a total of 175.

RR began the chase well but soon they were forced on the backfoot by the KKR spin duo of Narine and Chawla who picked five wickets between themselves.

Riyan Parag stepped up for RR and scored a match-winning 47. Archer finished off the match in style and handed KKR their sixth consecutive loss.

Points Table

RR now has four wins from their 11 games and is at 8 points. The Points Table is becoming increasingly interesting now that the teams at the bottom half of the table has started defeating the teams at the top half.

KKR stays at sixth position, having lost six games on the trott. KKR still has a better NRR then RCB and RR and hence if the teams are tied at same points at the end of the league stage KKR has an upper hand mathematically.

Orange Cap

The Orange Cap has not changed hands as yet and is still with Warner. Rahane though seemed to have picked up form in the last few innings and has entered the top 10 with a century and a half century to his name. Russell is at the 6th position with 406 runs and 3 half centuries.

Purple Cap

Kagiso Rabada is way ahead of the rest of the bowlers in the race for Purple Cap with 23 wickets in 11 matches. Shreyas Gopal has had a good season so far and is at the 6th spot with 13 wickets from 11 matches. His teammate Jofra Archer is at the 10th position with 11 wickets from 11 matches. One of the biggest reasons for KKR's failure could be owing to the fact that they are the only team which has no bowlers in the top 15 of the most wickets list.
