IPL 2019 Updated Points Table, Orange Cap and Purple Cap holders after KXIP vs KKR match
In a must-win game last night, Dinesh Karthik won the toss and asked R Ashwin's KXIP to bat first.
KL Rahul and Chris Gayle were sent back quickly by Sandeep Warrier, the young KKR fast bowler. Nicholas Pooran's 48 and a maiden IPL half-century from Sam Curran helped KXIP put up 183 runs on the board.
Shubman Gill and Chris Lynn stitched an opening partnership of 62 in the first six overs. KKR controlled the game from then on. Gill took KKR home with an unbeaten 65 and was adjudged Player of the Match for his efforts.
Points Table
Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi have already qualified for the playoffs, hence only one spot is up for grabs.
KKR is at the 5th position on the points table with 12 points from 13 matches and NRR of +0.173. KKR has a 43% chance of going through to the playoff - they have to hope that SRH loses to RCB in today's match and then they have to win their next match against MI.
KXIP is at the 7th position with 10 points from 13 games. They have only a mathematical chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
Orange Cap
KL Rahul and Andre Russell are still at the second and third position in the Orange Cap list respectively. Chris Lynn has moved up to the 14th spot with 364 runs from 12 innings. His opening partner Shubman Gill scored his third fifty of this IPL and is at 26th spot with 287 runs from 12 innings.
Purple Cap
Kagiso Rabada, who is currently at the top of the Purple Cap list has been ruled out of the rest of the IPL owing to an injury. Imran Tahir is closing in on him and needs just 5 wickets to go past Rabada. Mohammad Shami had another good outing with the ball and he is at the 5th spot with 17 wickets from 13 innings.
Andre Russell has been the stand out performer for KKR and he has climbed up to the 17th spot with 11 wickets in 11 innings.
