IPL 2020: 'I think strike-rates are very, very overrated,' says KXIP skipper KL Rahul

Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul has stated that strike-rates are something that are given too much importance in the T20s. The 28-year-old also believes that his strike-rate has been on the lower side this season due to his anchoring role.

KL Rahul had played a brilliant knock of 132* against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Dubai. However, apart from that, most of his innings have been at a lower strike-rate, and many believe he needs to pick up the pace when it comes to scoring.

Speaking after KXIP's game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he said:

"Look I think strike-rates are very very overrated. For me it is about how I can win games for my team. If I feel on a certain day that 120 (strike-rate) can win the game for my team, I will do that. This is how I bat and take responsibility and as a leader you have to take responsibility. I am not saying I haven't made a few mistakes but you learn each day as a batter and as a leader."

KL Rahul claimed that although KXIP are at the bottom of the IPL 2020 table and are over-reliant on their openers' form, there is no team in the tournament that have all their top six batsmen firing. He said:

"Look when you have a team at the bottom of the table, you might think that a lot of things have gone wrong. But no team has all the top six firing. A couple of them would be in good form and the couple of them won't be good. So it is important that the in-form players get as many runs as possible for the team."

KXIP will play their next game against the Kolkata Knight Riders on 10th October at Abu Dhabi and will be looking to get back to winning ways.
