IPL 2023: Predicting 3 bowlers who could pick up the most wickets in today's RCB vs GT fixture

In what will be the final league game of the IPL 2023 season, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are set to lock horns with the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, May 21.

A victory for RCB will mostly secure them a spot in the Eliminator against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 24.

As for Gujarat, they are in a much more comfortable position, being the table-toppers with nine wins in 13 games. They will, however, look to go into the playoffs with the momentum on their side.

The surface at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium has always favored the batters. However, with rain hovering around, pacers might find some movement off the deck in the clash between RCB and GT.

On that note, let's take a look at three possible bowlers who could be amongst wickets in the crucial tie on Sunday.

#3 Mohammed Shami - GT

Since IPL 2022, Mohammed Shami has played a crucial role in GT's success. He has bowled consistently well with the new ball, and skipper Hardik Pandya relies on him to make early breakthroughs.

This season has been extremely fruitful for the Indian international as well. With 23 scalps at an average of 16.7 in 13 games, Shami is currently the joint-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2023.

In GT's last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Shami wreaked havoc and took a match-winning four-wicket haul.

The experienced right-armer has also dismissed Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis a combined seven times in the IPL and his match-up against the duo with the new ball will be one battle to look forward to on Sunday.

#2 Mohammed Siraj - RCB

If GT have Mohammed Shami, RCB got their own special talent in Mohammed Siraj.

A key match for RCB would call for their key bowler Siraj to come all guns blazing at his favorite hunting ground in Bengaluru. On a track where other bowlers leak massive runs, Siraj has taken 17 wickets across 14 games at a strike rate of just above 18.

The 29-year-old started his IPL 2023 campaign on high, claiming 12 wickets in his first six games. In total, he has bagged 17 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 20.18 and an economy rate of 7.46.

Siraj has not gone wicketless at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium this season and is likely to continue his exploits against GT as well.

#1 Rashid Khan - GT

Undoubtedly one of the best spinners in the shortest format, Rashid Khan has always been a prime candidate to be amongst the wickets.

In fact, the Afghani tweaker has been enjoying his best-ever IPL campaign, having taken 23 scalps in just 13 innings in the tournament so far. The 24-year-old is also currently the joint-highest wicket-taker alongside his teammate Shami.

Just another chapter in Rashid Khan’s book of mysteries! 💪⚡

Rashid’s ability to deceive batters with his variations and extract turn and bounce from the pitch makes him a formidable force to be reckoned with.

Flying high with the Gujarat franchise, Rashid will look to continue his rich vein of form to haunt Royal Challengers on Sunday.
