IPL 2024: 3 records that were broken in DC's comprehensive 6-wicket win vs GT

In a one-sided affair on April 17, the Delhi Capitals (DC) cruised to a comfortable six-wicket victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 32 of IPL 2024.

Played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to field first. This decision proved to be a masterstroke as the DC bowling attack ran riot through the GT batting lineup.

The Gujarat Titans were bundled out for a meagre 89 kruns in just 17.3 overs. Openers Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha fell cheaply, and the rest of the batting order failed to build any significant partnerships.

The DC bowlers were disciplined and shared the spoils, with all of them picking up at least one wicket, barring Kuldeep Yadav. Pacer Mukesh Kumar was particularly impressive, claiming three wickets for 14 runs.

DC nailed down their run-chase quickly as the Jake Fraser-McGurk showcased blitz early on with his 10-ball 20. Pant then remained unbeaten at 16 to see his side home with 67 balls to spare.

Now that GT vs. DC match is over, let's take a look at three records that were broken in the recently concluded IPL fixture.

#3 Sai Sudharsan now has scored most runs after first 20 IPL innings (Indians)

Having represented Team India at international stage, Sai Sudharsan would've hoped for a better start to his IPL 2024 campaign. The talented southpaw is yet to make a fifty this season and has scored 238 runs at an average of 34.00.

However, his IPL 2022 campaign proved to be a stellar one due to which he now has bagged a superb individual record. Sudharsan has now become the Indian with the most runs after first 20 IPL innings. The match against DC was his 20th outing and the Tamil Nadu-born player has mustered a total of 745 runs at a strike rate of 139.9.

Sudharsan has broken Ruturaj Gaikwad's tally, who scored 737 runs after his first 20 IPL innings for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

#2 Lowest team total for GT

It was a dismal batting performance from the hosts, to say the least. While the pitch didn't have any demons to it, there was some poor shot selections by GT batters.

As a result, they registered their lowest team total in IPL history, getting bundled out for 89. This is also the first time the 2022 IPL champions have got all-out in the first innings.

GT's previous lowest total was 125/6, that also came against DC last season in Ahemdabad. While it was during the second innings, their previous first-innings lowest total was 135/6 against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow.

#1 Biggest win by balls remaining for DC

Delhi's phenomenal performance turned the match into a lopsided one. After restricting GT to a subpar total, they came out with clear intent of finishing the game as early as possible.

While they lost four wickets during their innings, Delhi completed the formalities in 8.5 overs. There was a total of 67 balls still remaining in the game. With this, DC have now recorded their biggest ever win (by balls remaining) in their IPL history.

Their previous best came against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2022 in Mumbai, where Delhi registered a win with 57 balls to spare.
