What is the twist introduced in RTM for the IPL 2025 auction?

Unlike the RTM rule used in previous auctions, the franchise that wins a bid can now get another shot at the player even if the cricketer's previous franchise has used RTM for him. So, if a particular player has been purchased by a team for a certain amount and his previous team uses the RTM option, the first team will be given the option to raise their bid. The cricketer's previous franchise needs to match this bid to acquire the player or must let him go.

When does the accelerated auction begin?

All the 577 players shortlisted for the auction will not go under the hammer. The accelerated auction process will begin from the 117th player. The accelerated auction will be held in two parts. In the first phase, teams will be asked to nominate players (from 117 to 577) they want to be presented at the auction. In the second phase, franchises can nominate players from the entire list including unsold ones.
