After losing to Royal Challengers Bangalore by a close margin on Friday, Kings XI Punjab will look to make amends against Chennai Super Kings at their home ground in Mohali. Having won 2 out of the 2 games they have played, the men in yellow will look to continue their winning streak and make it 3 in 3.

This promises to be an exciting encounter as former CSK teammate Ravichandran Ashwin will face off against M.S Dhoni for the first time in IPL. In the history of Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab have clashed against each other on 17 occasions in which CSK has won 10 games, whereas KXIP have won 7 games. At Mohali, Chennai have dominated, winning 3 out of the 4 games played here.

Let us look at 3 memorable encounters between both the teams at the I.S Bindra Stadium:

#3 Dwayne Bravo and Mike Hussey script an easy win – 2013

Put into bat first, Kings XI Punjab lost their openers Mandeep Singh and Adam Gilchrist in the 3rd over of the bowling of Dirk Nannes. Manan Vohra struck few boundaries before being dismissed off the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja for a breezy 16 of 11 balls. David Hussey (41) and Gurkeerat Singh (31) resurrected the innings to some extent before both the batsmen were dismissed in successive overs (15th and 16th) to leave Kings XI Punjab tottering at 5-116 in 15.1 overs.

The lower order didn’t contribute much as Kings XI Punjab folded for a meager 138 in 19.5 overs. Dwayne Bravo picked up 3 wickets, while speedsters Dirk Nannes and Chris Morris picked up 2 each and the spin duo of Ashwin and Jadeja 1 wicket a piece.

Chasing 139 to win, the dynamic duo of Murali Vijay and Michael Hussey took the onus upon them and stitched together an unbeaten 139 run stand to help Chennai register an easy 10 wicket win. Both the batsman reached half centuries, with Hussey being the top scorer with 86 runs of 54 balls.

For his fluent 86 runs, Michael Hussey was awarded Man of the Match.
