IPL: 5 reasons why RCB failed to make the playoffs

En

With a crushing defeat at the hands of the Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore's IPL 2018 campaign officially came to a close.

It was yet another season that promised so much but delivered so little, with horrific performances overshadowing the few sparks they produced in between.

Virat Kohli's men will now have to take a good hard look at themselves and focus on the next season as they remain one of the few teams to have never laid their hands on the trophy.

Here are five reasons for RCB's dismal season:

#1 Death bowling woes

RCB's bowling department has always been their weakness and that trend continued this season as well. They failed to defend scores in excess of 170 a few times and also leaked over 200 a couple of times. The likes of Mohammed Siraj, Chris Woakes, Corey Anderson et al failed miserably at the back end, dishing up half volleys and full tosses instead of yorkers.

While bowlers are expected to get it wrong in a game or two, the sheer number of times they were taken to the cleaners was definitely one of the reasons they were knocked out of the competition.
