IPL 6: Aaron Finch replaces injured Michael Clarke for Pune Warriors India

Aaron Finch

Top order Australian batsman Aaron Finch is set to replace Michael Clarke in the Pune Warriors India camp for the sixth edition of IPL this year. Finch revealed about his selection on twitter and will be boarding the flight to India this Saturday. Michael Clarke suffered a back injury during the Test series against India last month, which forced him out of the IPL. Here’s what Finch tweeted:

Finch earlier represented Rajasthan Royals in 2010 and Delhi Daredevils in 2011 and 2012. After Delhi Daredevils released him in November 2012, Pune Warriors will be the third franchise he will represent in IPL. With a base price of $200,000, Finch remained unsold in the February 3 IPL auctions.

He averaged 66.40 in the eight matches he played for Melbourne Renegades in the KFC Big Bash last season. He piled up 332 runs with a highest score of 111 not out in the tournament. However, his scores of 4, 7 and 1 for Australia in the three T20Is in January against Sri Lanka and West Indies were followed by no bidding for him in the IPL auctions this year.

Overall, he has scored 1699 runs in 58 domestic T20 matches at an average of 36.14 hitting at 130.49.
