IPL 6: KXIP vs SRH - Heroes of the day

Sunrisers Hyderabad stayed on course for a possible play-off berth with an impressive 30-run victory against Kings XI Punjab. The Sunrisers are level on points with Royal Challengers Bangalore; However, Vijay Mallya’s side are above them due to a higher net run-rate.

Hyderabad had heroes who performed well with both bat and ball, while Punjab had just a lone praise-worthy performer. Let’s look at the Heroes of the match:

Parthiv Patel

The young wicket-keeper set the tone for Kings XI with the bat, scoring his first fifty in the IPL this season. He took the opposition apart with four boundaries and two huge sixes. If Patel is able to continue in this fashion, then the Sunrisers will surely be able to compete for that elusive playoff berth.

Darren Sammy

Until today, it was doubtful whether even Sammy knew why he commanded a place in the Sunrisers team. All those doubts were cast away with a brilliant bowling performance from the West Indian. He might have got out for a duck, but his spell of 4/25 is as impressive as it gets. Sammy’s crucial wickets for Hyderabad stopped the Punjab batsmen from scoring freely and made sure his team was in pole position at all times.

Sandeep Sharma

In the 2012 under-19 World Cup, this teen sensation finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament. Earlier today, Sandeep Sharma’s dream debut in the IPL resulted in the teenager recording unbelievable figures of 3/21. One could only wonder why he wasn’t selected for Kings XI Punjab’s previous matches. This young man is definitely one for the future!
