IPL 6: Match 12 - RCB vs KKR - A statistical preview

The two teams have met on eleven occasions, with KKR leading RCB 6-5 in terms of win-loss ratio. Last season in IPL, KKR defeated RCB in both the league matches by convincing margins.

These two teams faced off each other in the very first IPL match way back in 2008 when Brendon McCullum got the IPL off to a dream start with a swashbuckling, single-handed hammering of the Bangalore based franchise.

Yusuf Pathan has so far failed to live up to the hype he created at Rajasthan Royals with the strike rate 124.68 in 44 matches for Knight Riders. While in 43 matches for Rajasthan Royals, his strike rate was 161. To cap it off, he is yet to score a half-century for the Kolkata based teams.

Knights Riders’ score of 222 in Bangalore is not just their highest on the ground but also their highest team total in IPL so far, courtesy the Brendon McCullum blitz in the opening match of IPL 2008. Meanwhile, Royal Challengers’ highest score on their home ground came in 2011, when they scored 205 against Kings XI Punjab.

Brendon McCullum’s 158* against RCB in the first match of the inaugural IPL is still the highest individual score in T20 cricket.

What’s next in store for teams: RCB will make a trip to neighbouring city Chennai for their away tie against the Chennai Super Kings on April 13, in what can be termed as the feisty derby.

The Kolkata Knight Riders will be at home to host Sunrisers Hyderabad on the following day.
