IPL 6: Match 19 - CSK vs PWI - A statistical preview

The Chennai Super Kings have a distinct edge when it comes to head-to-head matches against Pune Warriors India. The two-time IPL champions have conquered the Pune Warriors in three of the four matches played between the two teams.

Last season though, both teams played well in their respective home matches. PWI easily chased the target of 155 and registered a convincing 7-wicket win at home, while at Chennai, CSK defended 164 in a close contest winning by 13 runs.

Since their inception, Pune Warriors’ Robin Uthappa has been their flag bearer, leading the run scoring charts with 751 runs.

Raina is the joint record holder of the most number of catches as a fielder in IPL – 43. His partner in crime is Rohit Sharma.

Interestingly Pune Warriors’ head-to-head record against Super Kings is exactly similar to their performances in current campaign – one win and three losses. They are yet to open the account in Chennai.

MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings captain and wicket-keeper, holds the record for the most stumpings in the IPL; he has to his credit 18 stumpings out of 50 dismissals in the IPL.

R Ashwin’s 52 wickets in the IPL also include incredible 23 wickets of the opening batsmen which show how effective he is in powerplays.

What’s next in store for teams: After two consecutive home ties, Chennai Super Kings will head north to the national capital, where they clash with the Delhi Daredevils on April 18.

Meanwhile Pune Warriors India travel back to home to take on Sunrisers Hyderabad the day before.
