IPL 6: Match 24 - DD vs CSK - A statistical preview
Chennai Super Kings have won six of their ten contests against Delhi Daredevils. In last six ties between both the teams, CSK have held the upper hand, winning four of them.
Both teams won their respective home matches last season, but more importantly, CSK defeated DD in the Qualifier 2 which eliminated the Daredevils from the race to the final.
Suresh Raina is only match one short of 100 games for Chennai Super Kings (IPL and Champions League combined).
The Daredevils have a win-loss ratio of 13-16 in the IPL at Feroz Shah Kotla, which translates to 0.81, and is one of the worst for IPL teams at home (minimum 15 games). Only Deccan Chargers (now defunct) had a poorer ratio (3-15 at Uppal).
Chennai Super Kings’ Dirk Nannes needs only three more wickets to become the highest wicket-taker in Twenty20 cricket. He has to his credit 214 wickets so far and three more wickets will drive him ahead of the South African, Alfonso Thomas, who has 216 wickets in this format.
Surprisingly, the Chennai Super Kings’ average score in the Power Play is 36 – that’s the lowest among all teams this season! No wonder they need Faf du Plessis as soon as possible.
What’s next in store for teams: Delhi Daredevils will stay home and host the Mumbai Indians on April 21. Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings will head east to Kolkata after this match on April 20.
