IPL 6: Match 64 – CSK vs DD – A statistical preview
In the 11 matches played between the two franchises, Chennai Super Kings have a 7-4 win-loss ratio against the Delhi Daredevils.
When the teams earlier in the season met at Delhi, CSK posted the target of 170 and then shut out the hosts for paltry 83 to register an 86-run win.
Delhi Daredevils have been the favourite opposition for CSK in recent past; two of their biggest wins in terms of runs have come against the Daredevils. Incidentally, both were by 86 runs – the first was in Chennai last year and the second was at Kotla last month.
MS Dhoni has effected the most number of dismissals by a wicketkeeper in IPL 2013. He has to his name 12 dismissals which include 10 catches and two stumpings.
Traditionally, pitches in Chennai have been known to aid spinners. However, there has been clear shift in strategy on the part of the home team this season. Out of the 72 dismissals by bowlers at the venue, only 20 have went the spinners’ way.
Since his match-winning knock of 83 in a Test match against England in 2008, Virender Sehwag has only managed 34 runs across all formats in six innings at Chennai. It was also in 2008 when he scored his career-best 319 against South Africa at the same ground.
What’s next in store for teams: Chennai Super Kings will wind up their league fixtures for the season when they travel to Bangalore to take on Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 18.
Meanwhile, Delhi Daredevils will travel to Dharamsala to take on Kings XI Punjab on May 16.
