IPL 6: Match 65 - KKR vs PWI - A statistical preview

KKR will be heading into this match with their hopes of qualifying for the play-offs still alive. They need to win all their remaining games and hope for the other teams to lose in order to keep their chances sailing this year. PWI, on the other hand have continued with their miserable run so far, winning only 2 games this year. They will be looking to salvage some pride by beating the defending champions today.

Head to head combining all the seasons – Win/loss ratio is heavily skewed towards KKR, who have won all the 4 games played between the two teams so far. PWI could not manage to win a single game against KKR.

Head to head in the 2012 season – No surprise, KKR holds the advantage here also with their 100% record against PWI in the last season. Two games were played between them in 2012, and KKR won both of them.

Win/loss ratio of PWI in the IPL is 0.30. Even the two now-defunct franchises, Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Deccan Chargers, with ratios of 0.75 and 0.63 respectively, had far better ratios than PWI.

None of the KKR batsmen (having played 3 games or more) has an average of above 30 so far in this IPL.

KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir holds the record for the most IPL fifties in IPL along with RCB’s Chris Gayle.

PWI’s opening pair of Robin Uthappa and Aaron Finch has been the most successful opening combination in this year’s IPL. The pair averages 43.91 from 12 matches and has five 50-plus partnerships to it’s name this season.

What’s next in store for the teams - After this match, KKR will be flying to Hyderabad for the last league match in this IPL against SRH on 19th May, while PWI will head back home to host DD on 18th May.
