IPL 2014: Top 10 players to buy in auctions
Here are the top 10 players who will be available in IPL 7 auctions:
1. Mike Hussey: The southpaw who was the highest run scorer in IPL 6, would be red hot in the auction. His form in the ongoing Big Bash League will also do him a good in fetching a hefty pay cheque (228 runs at an average of 38 and strike rate 132). Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab may want the services of Mr.Cricket.
2. Aaron Finch: The right handed Victorian who is currently the top-scorer for Melbourne Renegades in BBL (262 runs at an average of 66 with strike rate of almost 150) will be a good buy for any team. His recent 121 against the Aussies showed that he can clear the boundary at will. He could easily end up acquiring an opening slot for teams like Kings XI, Delhi Daredevils or Sunrisers Hyderabad.
3. Thisara Perera: He had a great first IPL last year. With his lusty hitting and ability to bowl useful overs, he could be a good buy. He could easily end up getting a pay cheque of around 3-4 crores. With Sunrisers Hyderabad holding onto 2 players, they can easily use “Right To Match” card to retain the southpaw. Delhi Daredevils will have a close eye on the all-rounder.
4. Kevin Pietersen: The Ashes might not have been that great for this dominant right-hander but the ability to turn a match in a few overs is what makes this South African born superstar a hot pick for the auction. Coming at one down, he could easily turn the match on its head. Delhi Daredevils may want to use the “RTM” card to get the services of this lanky batsman.
5. Yuvraj Singh: The ease with which this southpaw can clear the boundary is what makes him a “must have” for any team. In Indian conditions his left-arm spin can be quite handful. He may want to use this IPL to get back into the Indian team. Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians are expected to bag the southpaw for a hefty amount.
6. David Warner: His attitude towards the game means he is always in business be it batting or fielding. After having a great Ashes, this little southpaw will be looking to continue the form in IPL. Delhi may want to use their “RTM” card to retain him. In case they don’t, Sunrisers might want to pick him up which will mean a deadly opening combination with Shikhar Dhawan.
7. Brad Hodge: With over 5700 runs in T20 across the globe, this man does not need a introduction. With his ability to finish matches and anchor innings, he might be a good pick for Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
8. Cameron White: This 6-feet Victorian packs a punch when he hits it. His recent form in BBL (200 runs at an average of 33 and strike rate of 140) may lead him to a hefty pay cheque most likely from Kolkata Knight Riders or Delhi Daredevils.
9. David Hussey: His ability to clear the boundary and play spin very well may lead him to a place with Kolkata Knight Riders or Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hussey can easily roll his arm over for 2-3 overs and he is a agile fielder too. His ability to read the game may be a extra point on his side.
10. Virender Sehwag: Virender Sehwag has not been retained by Delhi Daredevils which means he will go in the pool for auction. With his great hand-eye coordination and ability to hit even good balls for four, he will be a good pick for any side. Delhi Daredevils might use “RTM” to retain him. Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians are likely to go for the dashing opener as well.
