The 12th edition of the IPL auction was held at Jaipur on December 18, 2018. The think tanks of all the 8 participating teams racked their brains to pick their squads for the 2019 season of the league. A total of 351 players went under the hammer of which 60 were bought.

Much like every year, a number of surprises were thrown with the biggest of them being New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum remaining unsold. Also, pace spearhead Lasith Malinga returned to the league as a bowler for the same franchise he mentored in the 2018 season.

Now that the dust has settled, here are a few stats from the auction:

351 - Total number of players auctioned

Rs. 106.80 crore - Total money spent by all the teams

60 - Total number of players sold

20 - Number of foreign players sold

13 - Most number of players bought by a team (KXIP)

2 - Least number of players bought by a team (CSK)

42 - The highest multiplier a player was sold from his base price. (Varun Chakaravarthy to Kings XI Punjab for Rs. 8.4 crore up from his base price of Rs. 20 lakh)

16 years - The youngest player sold at the auction (Prayas Ray Barman to RCB for Rs. 1.5 crores)

6 - Yuvraj Singh and Ishant Sharma will play for their 6th team, the joint second most in IPL's history. Australian batsman Aaron Finch holds the record having played for 7 different franchises.

4.8 crore - The costliest player currently playing for Team India was sold for. (Mohammad Shami sold to Kings XI Punjab)

5 - Number of players from the highest price bracket of Rs. 2 crores who remained unsold

28 - Number of players sold for more than and equal to Rs. 1 crore

21 - Smallest squad size among all the teams (KKR)

3 - Number of teams who filled up to their full strength limit of 25 players. (CSK, DC and RR)

32.50 crore - Highest amount of money spent by a team (KXIP) 

4.4 crore - Least amount of money spent by a team (SRH)

8.4 crore - Highest bid for any player (Jaydev Undakat and Varun Chakaravarthy sold to Rajasthan Royals and King XI Punjab respectively)

7.2 crore - Highest bid for any foreign player (England all-rounder Sam Curran sold to Kings XI Punjab)
