IPL Emerging Player Award Winner 2008-18: Where are they now?
The IPL is a spectacle which is cherished by cricket enthusiasts every year. Being one of the most followed T20 leagues of the world, the spectator-friendly cricket league is home to many world-class cricketers.
Some of the greats of the game have graced the Indian Premier League and fans rejoice at the thought of watching their favourite franchises take the center stage.
Over the years there have been many awards associated with the IPL and one of those awards is the Emerging Player of Season award.
Here, we look at all the winners of the award and where they are now.
#1 Shreevats Goswami - 2008
Do you remember Shreevats Goswami? Ardent fans of the IPL will be familiar with this talented batsman who played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the inaugural edition of IPL and became the first ever winner of the Emerging Player of the year award.
The RCB wicket-keeper had a decent season under then captain Rahul Dravid.
Goswami was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018 IPL auction.
#2 Rohit Sharma - 2009
Probably the greatest cricketer to have ever won the Emerging Player award in the history of the IPL, Rohit Sharma is a man who needs no introduction to the cricket enthusiasts and avid sports readers.
Rohit Sharma was part of the successful Deccan Chargers side, who won the second season of the IPL under the captaincy of Adam Gilchrist.
Rohit later moved to Mumbai Indians, where he has lifted 3 IPL trophies. The opener has captained the Mumbai side magnificently and has been a dominant factor in Mumbai Indians' stupendous record in the tournament's history.
Rohit Sharma will lead the Mumbai Indians team once again in the IPL 2019.
#3 Saurabh Tiwary - 2010
Saurabh Tiwary started out his IPL journey with Mumbai Indians and it was in 2010 that the world got to witness the best of Tiwary.
The flamboyant batsman was a destructive force and his batting style was, to an extent, reminiscent of a certain player from Jharkhand who goes by the name M.S. Dhoni.
Saurabh enjoyed batting for the Mumbai Indians and scored more than 400 runs in the season. He was deservedly awarded the Emerging Player of season.
Unfortunately for Saurabh, things didn't turn out pretty well post that season, and the player from Bihar failed to rediscover his form in the seasons that followed.
Tiwary went unsold in the auction for IPL 2019 and will not be playing in the upcoming edition.
