IPL Fantasy 2018, RCB vs SRH: 5 suggestions to help you score big today
For one team, it's about finetuning themselves ahead of the playoffs. For the other, it's about giving themselves the best chance of making it to the playoffs in the first place. For fantasy users, it's about raking in the moolah by picking the best possible side.
Considering the high stakes from tomorrow's clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad, here are some suggestions to pick your fantasy team:
1. Squad combination
Who wants it more? Royal Challengers Bangalore or Sunrisers Hyderabad? Of course, the home side RCB will want the win badly considering the fact that they will be knocked out if they lose.
SRH, on the other hand, can afford to relax a touch having confirmed their spot in the top two. A top two finish means they will play the first qualifier. Even though they aren't expected to make a lot of changes to their XI, I don't expect SRH to be at their best, at full intensity.
So I would suggest picking more players from RCB for this contest when it comes to the squad breakup. If RCB push themselves and get a win, you will be giving yourself the best chance of fetching more points.
2. Form no factor for Hales
He hasn't set the tournament on fire as expected. Replacing David Warner is no easy task especially when you take the left-hander's record in the IPL into account. Alex Hales has found the going tough but has shown glimpses of his abilities on a couple of occasions.
Even though we are not sure if the Chinnaswamy would aid spin like it has done on a few occasions, I would take this punt and include Hales in my squad. The boundaries are smaller so even if he mistimes a few, the chances are that they might carry over for a six.
If he gets himself in, Hales can cause a lot of damage and with RCB having plenty of pace in their tank in the form of Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Siraj, Hales will fancy his chances against this trio.
3. Make room for both Virat and AB
As always, it's a tough ask especially when you have expensive players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson in the opposite ranks. But this is a big game and we always trust on big players to step up in big games.
Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers did it at Delhi recently and now in front of their noisy home crowd, one can expect them to come to the party again. The fact that they will be up against the best bowling attack makes it all the more important for them to take more responsibility. So go ahead and pick them both. Balance the books by making some smart picks.
4. A challenge for Bhuvi
Even though I pointed out how SRH might not be at their best considering the fact they are already in the playoffs, it's still a big game for someone like a Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The man has had an indifferent season, he has been plagued by injuries as well so he would dearly love to make a statement.
Expect Bhuvneshwar to be charge in and challenge the likes of Kohli and de Villiers in their own backyard. This is the sort of player you must be targetting.
5. Spinners might have a say
This is as much a punt as the one you have been suggested to take with Hales. The surface has aided spin on a few occasions, it has gone for plenty of runs on others. If it doesn't turn, Hales has a huge chance of notching up a big score, but if it does, then again, you must give yourself the best chance of fetching points via wickets.
Rashid Khan, Shakib Al Hasan. Yuzvendra Chahal and Moeen Ali are the contenders but it's going to be extremely difficult to pick the two leggies. They are both bound to be expensive but you can still make room for one of them. Considering the fact that Chahal knows these conditions inside out, my vote goes for him.
