All-rounders: Avoid Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell has been disappointing so far, only scoring 120 runs in 6 innings at an average of 20. Though he has picked up 3 wickets in 8 overs, he has not pulled his weight and is not worth the money you will spend on building your team.
Shane Watson opens the batting and will also bowl, often in the powerplay. He has been looking more like the Watson we know from his time in Rajasthan. He is a safe bet with a high chance of success in at least one department.
Dwayne Bravo has been the second highest wicket-taker for CSK and has also finished games for them with a strike rate of 197, but he bats way down the order and bowls more at the death, which could cost you quite a few points compared to Watson.
Overseas bowlers: Boult merits a spot
Boult has been a bright star in Delhi's campaign with 11 wickets at a strike rate of 14. He has been excellent with an economy rate of 8.75 despite bowling at the death.
Plunkett is a serious contender for another overseas spot. He has played only two games, picked up 3 wickets at an astounding economy of 5.12 runs per over while also bowling at the death.
Indian stars: Rayudu and Iyer
Raina was injured and missed a game, and has scored 204 runs at an average of 51, been striking at 140. These are great numbers but they have been made to look pedestrian with the opening pyrotechnics of Rayudu with an average of 47 and a strike rate of 154 to score 329 runs which have also helped him in gaining the orange cap. Raina can be explosive on his day but Rayudu has been consistently performing at a high level halfway into the season.
Shreyas Iyer has been exemplary for Delhi with an average of 61 runs at a strike rate of 163 to score 244 runs. His response to his promotion as the captain was a man of the match performance of 93* runs in 40 balls with ten sixes to boot.
X-factor: Munro > Billings
Munro was dropped for Roy and then brought back. He paid back the trust of the think tank with an 18-ball 33 to give Delhi an explosive start which Iyer and Shaw carried on. Bonus, he can roll over his arm if called upon.
Billings scored a match-winning 56 early in the tournament when he helped CSK defeat KKR at home. Since then he has managed to score only 24 more runs with an average of 16. He may score big if he fires, but choose him at your own risk since Munro will open the batting and Billings will bat lower down the order.
Staying within the budget: Shaw and Khan
Prithvi Shaw and Avesh Khan have performed well in the two games they have played for Delhi. Shaw has scored 84 with a fifty to show. Khan has 4 wickets at a strike rate of 12.
They will help you stay within the budget especially considering the stars in Chennai's team you just cannot do without.
Injury alert - Deepak Chahar not available
Deepak Chahar injured his hamstring in the game against Mumbai. He has been ruled out for 2 weeks.
Meanwhile, Delhi has been inundated with injuries this season. Chris Morris has had a back injury flare up and has been ruled out of the season, Junior Dala replaced him in the squad.
Delhi are also missing the services of Kagiso Rabada who was ruled out before the first game, but they have managed to get a great replacement in Liam Plunkett for him.
Jason Roy was taken for a precautionary MRI to manage a potential side strain.
