IPL Fantasy cricket, SRH vs CSK, RR vs MI: 5 tips to succeed
It is Super Sunday today in the IPL and you get a chance to play your own game of fantasy - StarPick is the new one on the block, and it has a lot of exciting features along with millions in prize money. You can create your StarPick team here.
The Watson dilemma
First of all, one needs to remember that Shane Watson is in very good form. The big score came only in the last game but he has been in decent nick prior to that as well. He also bowls every game and invariably picks up a wicket or two which is a huge bonus.
But it's no secret that he has had issues with his fitness. Watson is going to play a game less than two days after his epic century the other night in Pune. He almost batted through and also bowled a few overs that night so physically is he in great shape?
We are not sure, and he is going to come up against the best bowling attack in the IPL who will have a point to prove after the Gayle assault. That leaves us with the big question. Is it worth the gamble? He does cost a lot so I would suggest no. At least not for this game.
Wait on Raina but pick Dhoni
The good news for CSK fans is that not only is Suresh Raina fit again but he was also back amongst the runs the other night. Raina hasn't been in the greatest of forms though and once again the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan would look to exploit that and ensure they put pressure on him.
Considering his great IPL record, Raina does cost a lot of money so it's better to invest it on Dhoni instead. Last year, Dhoni smashed Bhuvneshwar in an epic run chase while playing for RPS. No one saw that coming. He does have a good record against the best bowler in the IPL in recent years so that should give you some confidence.
When the going gets tough, Dhoni steps up. Against the best attack, expect the man to put his hand up once again.
Enough of Tahir
He hasn't exactly set the tournament on fire, has he? And CSK have someone like Karn Sharma, on whom they spent a lot of money. Tahir hasn't been amongst the wickets in the middle overs and to make matters for himself, he has also been leaking a lot of runs.
CSK put up a near perfect bowling performance against RR the other night, but Tahir still managed to get belted around the park, so don't risk picking him. I would assume Karn will keep his place in the side.
Karn has played in Hyderabad before where has had success so I expect him to have success against a middle order that has right-handers in it predominantly.
Lewis and Rohit are a must
This is largely down to two reasons. One - RR's bowling attack doesn't inspire confidence at all. Whether it's their spinners or the seamers, they have been simply woeful. The runs are being scored left, right and center and with key men not being in form with the ball, things certainly look bleak.
The surface at Jaipur is also pretty good which will suit a rampaging Lewis. I expect many sixes to fly off his bat and then there is Rohit Sharma. He had a poor start to the tournament but he always needs just that one knock to get going. He got that last time and considering RR are poor at the death for now, there is every chance of Rohit going bonkers in the slog overs.
No RR players please
I know it's not possible to not pick a team without any RR player in it but pick as less as possible. It's a squad that some players who can win matches with individual brilliance but it's a squad that doesn't know where it stands right now.
It's a confused atmosphere out there at the Royals camp where certain individuals are not being used in the right way. We expect that to change soon but until then it's not advisable to pick many players from their squad. Let them sort this mess out, let them get their confidence back, then we will invest on this talented bunch.
