Mumbai Indians hosted Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 31st match of the season. Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first as most of the teams usually do at Wankhede stadium. The star from the last game Virat Kohli got out for eight runs and Parthiv Patel got out after a cameo.
Moeen Ali and AB de Villiers kept the scoreboard ticking with a brilliant partnership. The duo kept finding the odd boundaries to keep the momentum going. Both the overseas professionals completed their respective half-centuries. These two added 95 runs partnership for the third wicket to put RCB in a decent position. Once RCB lost the wicket of Moeen Ali ABD took the charge for the visitors. The South African superstar smashed some of the best death bowlers in the world. He smashed 75 runs off 51 balls before getting run out in the last over of the innings.
This meant that the visitors were not able to score big in the last over. They managed to score only nine runs and lost three wickets in Malinga's last over of the innings. The Sri Lankan legend turned back the clock to complete a four-wicket haul.
Mumbai Indians openers continued the good work they did in the last match. Both Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma gave them a solid start and MI scored 67 runs in first six overs without losing a wicket. The English off-spinner Moeen Ali took the wicket of both the openers in one over to bring RCB back in the match.
RCB contained the Mumbai Indians with the spinners on a pitch which had turn and bounce. However, Mumbai kept finding the odd sixes to keep the required rate in control. Kohli bowled his strike bowlers inside fifteen overs hence he had to rely on fast bowlers and Pawan Negi to finish off the proceedings. But that did not go well as expected as Hardik Pandya's cameo ensured that Mumbai won the game by five wickets.
