IPL history: 3 lowest totals by Kings XI PunjabÂ
The 11 years of the enthralling, premier T20 tournament in the world - the IPL - have decorated the face of the gentleman's game. Be it new tactics, superstars or innovations, the IPL has gone on to establish itself as one of the most sought-after events in world cricket.
Many teams have featured in the competition thus far, but one of them, among two others, has failed to taste success despite having participated in all the editions. And here, we'll focus on the lions from Punjab - Kings XI.
They have reached the playoffs a couple of times, lost out in the finals to KKR once when they looked next to invincible, missed out on the top four on a few occasions and ended their campaign in the basement thrice.
Not a lot has gone their way, but Kings XI have been a fantastic batting unit over the years. From Yuvraj Singh, Adam Gilchrist and Mahela Jayawardene to Kumar Sangakkara, Virender Sehwag and Simon Katich, the Shers have possessed some of the finest willow-wielders over the years.
However, every world-class batting side has its fair share of bad days and given Punjab's run in the IPL over the years, you'd expect a few horrendous batting performances from them.
On that note, let's go back in time to relive the 3 lowest totals by Kings XI Punjab.
#3 88 vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore - IPL 2015
RCB put one of their best performances against KXIP in the 40th game of IPL 2015. We could run out of adjectives and phrases to describe the display produced by Virat Kohli's men, who completely demolished the Kings XI.
Much to the anguish of the visitors, the 'Gayle Storm' struck Bangalore as the West Indian scored a century to claw the game away from George Bailey and co. With 117 off just 57 deliveries, Gayle took the KXIP bowlers to the cleaners. AB de Villiers smashed 47 off just 24 as RCB raced to 226-3 in their 20 overs.
In reply, KXIP were all out for just 88 in 13.4 overs, making it one of the most one-sided fixtures in IPL history. Axar Patel recorded 40 off just 21, but there was nothing to boast about apart from that, as every other batsman except Saha got out on a single digit score.
