IPL 6: Mumbai Indians wary of winless Delhi Daredevils

New Delhi - Mumbai Indians expect Delhi Daredevils to come hard at them when they meet for the second time in the Indian Premier League on Sunday.

Delhi Daredevils are the only winless side in IPL-6, losing all six matches they have played so far. However, Mumbai Indians batsman Dinesh Karthik feels Delhi are capable of turning it around.

“Delhi are a very good team and there is no doubting that. They have lost all their games and I am sure they will be hungry for success tomorrow. They are a very good team and there is no doubting that,” said Karthik on the eve of the match at the Ferozeshah Kotla.

“For us, the important thing is how we play. We have played good cricket and some ordinary cricket as well,” he said referring to his team’s heavy loss against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur Wednesday. Mumbai Indians have won three out of their five games.

The form of openers Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting has been a subject of debate but Karthik did not see it as a problem.

“Our opening stand has not been great but we are all aware of what they (Tendulkar and Ponting) can produce.”

Karthik, however, has been in sublime touch this IPL, scoring 254 runs in five games with a cracking strike rate of 148.53.

Asked about his role in the team, Karthik said: There is no specific role. I have just been told to play my natural game. I am batting at number three and I am grateful to the team for giving me the opportunity.”
