IPL 2020: Ranking the eight teams based on their win percentage in last 12 seasons
The thirteenth season of the Indian Premier League is just a few months away as the cricket fans are prepping up for yet another action-packed six weeks of T20 cricket. Mumbai Indians has been the most successful team in the IPL history with 4 IPL titles in 12 seasons while Chennai Super Kings has been in the top 4 during all the seasons they have played.
Besides, Chennai Super Kings have also won the IPL title thrice. The Shahrukh Khan-owned Kolkata Knight Riders franchise has won the championship two times and apart from Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab, all the teams have won the title once.
While the championship wins indicate a team’s dominance, the winning percentage gives a clearer picture. Hence, let us have a look at all the eight teams’ ranking based on their win percentage:
#8 Delhi Capitals - 44.00%
The Delhi-based IPL franchise, Delhi Capitals (formerly known as Delhi Daredevils) has featured in all the 12 editions of IPL. They are the only one from the first eight teams to have never played an IPL final. Delhi has played 177 IPL matches in the last 12 years but registered only 77 wins.
Their best performance came in the year 2012 when they finished at the top of the points table. However, they squandered both of their opportunities in the playoffs to crash out of the tourney. The Capitals had finished third in IPL 2019 as well. Their winning percentage is the lowest because they had taken the wooden spoon home in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2018.
#7 Kings XI Punjab - 46.02%
Just like Delhi, Kings XI Punjab has been a part of the tourney since 2008 yet they have no trophies in their cabinet. The Mohali-based franchise had almost won their first title in 2014 but a special innings from Manish Pandey in the final match denied KXIP a historic victory.

Kings XI Punjab have been inconsistent in the IPL as they have qualified for the second round in only two seasons. Besides, they had even ended the season at the last position in 2010, 2015 and 2016. They have won 82 of their 176 IPL matches in the last 12 seasons.
