IPL Records: Top 10 batsmen who led the Orange Cap list in the 2016 IPL season

In IPL 2016, we saw piles of runs being scored by the batsmen. There were a plethora of high-scoring games in that year, with the top 10 highest run scorers piling on 5766 runs combined.

Virat Kohli won the Orange Cap by a huge margin, as he scored an immense total of 973 runs. That tally is the highest by any Orange Cap winner in the history of IPL.

There was a fierce battle to get on the top 10 list in 2016. It was the year of the batsmen, many of whom played terrifically well and made heaps of runs.

As the race for the Orange Cap gets fiercer by the day in IPL 2019, let us take a trip down memory lane and look at the top 10 batsmen who were in the 2016 leaderboard.

#10 Suresh Raina (Gujarat Lions)

Suresh Raina scored 399 runs in the 15 innings he played in the 2016 season, with a strike rate of 127.88. Gujarat Lions were debuting in that season and Raina was given the task of leading the side. 

As always, Raina was in exceptional form in IPL and he led his team from the front. He smashed 39 fours and 10 sixes in that season.

#9 Quinton de Kock (Delhi Daredevils)

The South-African wicketkeeper finished at the 9th position on the Orange Cap leaderboard of 2016, by scoring 445 runs in just 13 innings. Quinton de Kock has a good record on Indian pitches and he continued his form in IPL by scoring runs at a strike rate of 136.08.

The left-handed batsmen opened the innings for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and aggregated over 400 runs at an average of 37.08. He also hammered 3 half centuries and 1 century, with a total of 52 fours and 13 sixes.
