Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field first.

Warner started ablaze again

The opening pair of David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan provided a fiery start to the team. Especially Warner with the kind of form he has been in, begun with some fierce strokes. The duo brought up the fifty partnership at the end of the powerplay.

Mumbai claim 2 quick wickets

Warner again looked like running away with the game and was striking freely. The experienced Harbhajan got him caught at long off for 48. He hit 7 fours and a six. Few balls later, Harbhajan struck again to remove Kane Williamson cheaply. The onus to build the innings now shifted to Shikhar Dhawan and Yuvraj Singh.

Dhawan and Yuvrai power Sunrisers to 177

Dhawan exhibited a well-compiled innings of 82 off just 57 balls. He remained not out till the end. He played the second fiddle earlier when Warner was going at it, once he was dismissed; Dhawan took charge and finished with his highest score this season. Yuvraj showcased some vintage stuff as he scored a quick fire 39 before he clipped his own stumps.

Sunrisers struck early to pick up 5 wickets inside powerplay

Bhuvneshwar got rid of Parthiv Patel for a duck and Nehra castled Rohit off the next ball to reduce Mumbai to 5/2. Ambati Rayudu was surprised by a jumping ball of Nehra and gave his wicket away for 6 runs. Nehra bagged his 3rd wicket as he got Jos Butler caught behind for 2. Barinder Sran next got his first wicket to send Krunal Pandya back for 17. Sunrisers’ new ball bowlers continue their terrific form.

Mumbai tottering against Sunrisers bowlers

The misery of Mumbai’s batsmen continued as Sunrisers’ bowlers kept chipping away with wickets at regular intervals. Mustafizur struck thrice in quick time to put an end to any chances of a Mumbai win. Henriques also joined in the wickets tally when he removed the big man Kieron Pollard.

A commanding win takes Sunrisers to the top of the table

A perfect bowling display from the Sunrisers restricts Mumbai to 92 all out. They bowl Mumbai out in the 17th over and won the match by a thumping 85 runs. The Mumbai innings never got going and kept losing wickets one after the other. It turned out to be a one-sided affair at the end. Sunrisers having played at this ground before in the last season definitely favoured them. Every bowler pitched in with wickets with Nehra and Mustafizur picking up 3 wickets apiece.

Match Result:

SRH 177/3 (20 overs) Dhawan 82, Warner 48, Harbhajan 29/2

MI 92/10 (16.3 overs) Harbhajan 21, Nehra 15/3, Mustafizur 16/3
