IPL Stats: Top 5 records by David Warner in IPL history
When the top performers of the IPL are brought into spotlight, several names are mentioned. But one person's name hasn't been in it enough and that man is David Warner.
Warner has had a love affair with the Indian Premier League and despite being involved with controversy, he is still loved by the Indian crowds whenever he walks out to bat.
He's one of the most consistent batsmen in the IPL and after a poor first season with the Delhi Daredevils, the Aussie southpaw impressed for the Delhi side and finished off with 2 centuries for the team in the IPL.
He was then signed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad and in 2016, led the side to the title and was the second highest run scorer of the tournament.
He was banned from playing International cricket for a year along with captain Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft due to their involvement in a ball tampering affair.
The BCCI later stated that Warner wouldn't be allowed to play in IPL 2018. But now he is all set to make his return to the IPL this season and a lot will be expected from him.
Here are 5 records held by David Warner in the history of the IPL:
#5 Highest individual score by a captain- 126 vs KKR (2017)
David Warner was not only a star batsman but excelled with the mantle of captaincy in the IPL. He narrowly missed out on leading the team to a playoff spot in IPL 2015 but did so in 2016, also eventually leading them to the title.
Warner was phenomenal that season as he smashed 848 runs, averaging a brilliant 60.5 at a great strike-rate of 151.42 and scored a whopping nine fifties beating, beating even the Orange Cap winner Virat Kohli with that stat.
He set the still-standing record for the highest individual score by a captain when he scored 126 off just 59 balls against KKR in Match 37 of the 10th edition of the IPL, in 2017.
KKR put SRH into bat and it proved to be a disastrous decision as Warner took off right from the set go.
Dhawan and Warner put on a mammoth opening partnership but Dhawan was run out in the 13th over for 29 when the team's score was 139 and the brilliant Warner by that has already scored a hundred.
His rampage was finally halted by Chris Woakes but the damage was already done and KKR ended up losing the match by 48 runs.
