Irani Trophy: Bist's century goes in vain

Bangalore - Robin Bist’s unbeaten century failed to prevent Rajasthan from collapsing for 253 runs in the first innings as Umesh Yadav bagged five wickets for Rest of India on the first day of the Irani Trophy cricket match here Friday.

At stumps, Rest of India were two for no loss and trailed by 251 runs. Ajinkya Rahane was batting on two while Abhinav Mukund was yet to open his account.

The 24-year-old Bist struck an unbeaten 117 off 187 balls. He struck fourteen fours and two sixes in his blistering knock.

Bist was ably supported by Rashmi Ranjan (34) and they were involved in a valuable fourth wicket-stand of 105 that helped the Ranji Trophy Champions recover from 46 for three to 151 for four.

Bist and Dishant Yagnik (40) were involved in a 59-run stand for the fifth wicket that pushed the score past the 200 mark.
