Ireland players make significant gains in latest ICC Test rankings
Ireland all-rounder Kevin O'Brien, who made his Test debut with his side's inaugural red-ball game against Pakistan, made a direct entry into the top-100 in the latest ICC Test rankings.
While his side suffered a five-wicket defeat, O'Brien locked himself on the 66th spot in the batting rankings after scoring his country's maiden Test hundred (118), after having compiled 40 in the first innings. He was awarded the Player of the Match for his contribution, the aggregate being the most from either side.
Tim Murtagh, who picked up a total of six wickets in the game, also entered the top-100, in the bowler's rankings, sealing a spot at 67, while Stuart Thompson, who also hit 53, sealing his spot at 88 in the bowler's rankings after picking up four wickets.
Pakistan debutant Faheem Ashraf, who scored 83 at No.8, the highest score for his team, earned 392 points and is now at the 81st spot, while Imam-ul-Haq, also on debut, scored 74 in the second innings.
The top-10 batsmen remained more or less intact, with only one change in the form of Hashim Amla, who reached the tenth spot, with Sri Lanka's Dinesh Chandimal following him at 11. The bowler's top-15 rankings stay as they were.
