IRE vs PAK: Twitter reactions to historic test between Ireland and Pakistan

Ireland and Afghanistan were granted test status on 22 June 2017 and almost one year after achieving the test status, the Irish cricketers are playing their first test match against Pakistan at The Village in Dublin.

18 long years after Bangladesh's first test, Ireland entered the elite club of test playing nations and will be the eleventh nation to do so. Afghanistan will follow Ireland's suit soon as they will play against India in June this year.

It took 25 years for Ireland to achieve the status of a test playing nation after being inducted as an associate nation in 1992.

The most memorable Ireland-Pakistan match to date would be the World Cup clash between these two nations eleven years ago. It was not just a great win for Irish cricket, but that moment showed the cricketing world that they are capable of facing the big boys of cricket.

Four cricketers - William Porterfield, Boyd Rankin, and the O'Brien brothers- who were part of that historic clash will take the field tomorrow against Pakistan and will look to create more good memories for the Irish.

But on such a historic occasion, rain played spoilsport and the whole of the test match's first day got washed off and Ireland will have to wait few more hours to get on to the field in whites.

Here's how Twitter reacted to Ireland's first test match:
