Ishant Sharma stormed out of the Gabba at lunch on day three due to no vegetarian food

Ishant Sharma was unhappy with the food on offer for lunch on day three

Just months after a furious MS Dhoni led CSK out of a five-star hotel in Hyderabad due to being denied home-cooked biryani, it was Ishant Sharma who stormed out of the Gabba at lunch on day three of the second Test against Australia after finding out that there was no vegetarian food in the menu.

According to reports, they’ve been unhappy with the food provided to them right from the start of the tour but did not make their frustration public as Australia were in deep mourning due to the unfortunate passing away of Phillip Hughes.

During the first Test in Adelaide, however, there weren’t any issues as the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) had arranged for an Indian chef to prepare food for the visitors during the match.

The same wasn’t the case in Brisbane, though, prompting Ishant to leave the stadium along with Suresh Raina on the lookout for vegetarian food. They were accompanied team director Ravi Shastri and ICC’s ACSU personnel.

What caused further fury was the fact that they were told they cannot bring food items inside the stadium on their return to the venue. As a result, they had no option but to sit outside and finish their lunch.

While Raina isn’t involved in the ongoing Test, for Ishant to have had to travel outside the stadium for lunch before returning to bowl after the break is pretty remarkable to say the least.
