Ishant Sharma - the fifth fastest Indian to reach 100 wickets in ODIs
Although India conceded 300 runs for the 10th time in 2013, finally the Indian bowling showed some sting and aggression in the 3rd ODI against South Africa at the Super sport park in Centurion. Lead by a four-for from Ishant Sharma, the Indian pace attack looked incisive and had the South Africans in trouble by picking up three quick wickets.
Ishant Sharma was the pick of the Indian bowler with figures of 10-2-40-4. During this spell he also became a part of the 100-wickets ODI club. He is the 16th Indian bowler to pick up 100 wickets for India and he reached the milestone in just 70 games.
Ishant Sharma is the fifth fastest Indian to reach the 100 wicket tally, with Irfan Pathan leading the list with 59 matches. Zaheer Khan occupies the second place with 65 games while Ajit Agarkar (67) and Javagal Srinath (68) are in third and fourth positions respectively.
There has been a lot said about his poor performances this year but Ishant Sharma finally bounced back with a stunning performance today, going past the 100 wicket tally in the process.
Interestingly, he reached the milestone faster that a few greats like Wasim Akram, Dale Steyn, Muttiah Muralitharan, Glenn McGrath, Anil Kumble and Imran Khan!
