"It was a great opportunity for me as one rarely gets to dismiss Sachin bhai," - Mohit Sharma
Mohit Sharma has already caught the eye of the Indian cricket fans in the IPL and even during the India – Zimbabwe series. However, today the Haryana youngster became the talk of the town when he messed up the furniture of Sachin Tendulkar in the Ranji opener between Mumbai and Haryana.
Sachin Tendulkar was the focal point of the game as it would be his last appearance in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai. The ground at Lahli was packed as the spectators flocked in to see the maestro bat but the 25-year-old Chennai Super King pacer cut short the master’s innings only for five.
Sachin Tendulkar has been castled only three times in his Ranji Trophy career. Apart from Mohit Sharma today, he was bowled by Atul Wassan and Murtuja Vahora.
The Haryana pacer however, refused to look too much into the hype of claiming Tendulkar’s wicket.
“I was not thinking that this was his last (Ranji) match. I just concentrated on bowling wicket to wicket as the plan was to make him play, look to hit the seam. That way it’s not easy for a new batsman on this wicket,” – Mohit Sharma responded after the first day’s play.
But the young pacer was happy to get Tendulkar out and said that he had a very simple plan for the Indian legend.
“The plan was to make him play as much as possible. It feels great…I am very happy. It was a great opportunity for me in my life as one rarely gets to dismiss Sachin bhai,” he said.
