Hubballi, Sept 7: A fine effort by left-arm spinner Jagadeesha Suchith who claimed five for 20 paved the way for Mysuru Warriors’ first win in the Karbonn Smart KPL 2015 here on Monday. The defending champions posted a five-wicket victory over Bellary Tuskers.

Chasing a modest 122 for victory Mysuru Warriors made heavy weather of the target and were reduced five for 85 before Shoiab Manager ( 20 n.o) and K Gowtham (16 (n.o) hung on grimly to see their team through. For the third time, skipper Manish Pandey came a cropper and as was expected the rest of the batsmen panicked.

However, the target was within reach this time around for the team.

Earlier, Bellary Tuskers once again floundered as their openers failed to give the team a good start. However small and useful partnerships bolstered the team past the 100 mark. Aniruddha Joshi stood firm with wickets falling at regular intervals at the other end. The right-hander scored a much needed 36-ball 43 that had four boundaries in them.

The Tuskers’ tail, which wagged merrily in their last two essays, was dormant on Tuesday and their total of 121 is the lowest in the tournament this far.

Bellary Tuskers need to win all four games if they are to have any chance of making the knock-out grade from here on.

With Tuesday’s victory Mysuru will hope positivity creeps into the team and performances will improve for them to get anywhere near whiffing distance of the title.

“The wicket was a slow one, much slower than we had thought it would be. Losing two games, this was a must win for us. I am happy that I bowled in the right areas and according to the plan to deliver what the team required of me,” said J Suchith, Man of the Match.
