Jagdeesha Suchith shares joint fastest fifty record on Indian soil with Yusuf Pathan
Jagdeesha Suchith, who represents the Mysuru Warriors in the KPL and plays for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, cracked a 15 ball fifty to become the joint fastest fifty scorer in T20’s on Indian soil. They record was previously held by Yusuf Pathan who also hit a 15 ball fifty at the Eden Gardens against Sunrisers Hyderabad last year.
During his 15 ball fifty Suchith hit 6 sixes and 3 fours at the strike rate of 360.00, Mysuru Warriors had lost their third wicket for 104 when Suchith came in after CM Gautam gave them a good start scoring a fifty too. After coming in, Suchith eased into his role as a pinch hitter and went after the bowlers with considerable ease. In his 15 ball knock he cleared the rope six times, his boundaries alone accounted for 48 runs, and his knock helped Mysuru Warriors set a target of 162.
Fastest fifties in T20s
Yusuf Pathan who now shares the record with Suchith, scored a 22 ball 72 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad during which he hit 7 sixes and 5 fours at a strike rate of 327.27, Yusuf came in when Kolkata Knight Riders were struggling at 77/3 and took them to a respectable total of 16 with his knock which resulted in a match winning performance.
The record of the fastest T20 fifty belongs to the India’s explosive southpaw, Yuvraj Singh who scored his fifty in only 12 balls against England during the 2007 T20 World Cup. Yuvraj scored 58 in 14 where his fifty came of only 12 balls during which he cleared the fence seven times and ended with a strike rate of 362.50 it was in the same match that he pummeled Stuart Broad for six consecutive sixes in a row.
This joint fastest fifty on Indian soil should give Suchith the confidence to keep performing in the same manner and maybe hope for an Indian team call up maybe a replacement for Ravindra Jadeja in the ODI and T20 formats as Suchith is an able batsman and is also a spin bowler. He can try and seal a place in the Indian team as it is desperately missing a genuine all rounder.
