While Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was playing for India in the first ODI against Sri Lanka at the HPCA stadium in Dharamsala, his 84-year-old grandfather Santokh Singh Bumrah's body was found in Ahmedabad.

It should be noted that his daughter Rajinder Kaur reported a missing person complaint to the police yesterday. According to a report by Ahmedabad Mirror, Santokh was in the city to meet his grandson, Jasprit.

The report also had Rajinder alleging that Jasprit's mother Daljit Kaur spoke to Santokh, but refused to let him speak to Jasprit. She didn't even give his phone number. This is when Santokh, determined to meet him, left for Ahmedabad where he went missing.

Santokh Singh resided in the Uddham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand and used to drive autos for survival despite his grandson being one of India's best bowlers.

Things were going well for the Bumrah family till 2001. It was then when Jasbir Singh Bumrah, Jasprit’s father, passed away. Daljit, a school principal, single-handedly raised the children and made sure that the then 7-year-old got all the resources he needed to succeed in life.

Jasbir's death devastated the whole family. Since they had loans to be re-paid, they sold all their factories and Santokh moved to Uttarakhand, where he bought four tempos with the hope of starting a new business venture. However, it didn't go the way he would have expected and faced massive losses once again.

With Jasprit playing in the ODI, it is unclear whether he is aware of the death of his grandfather or not.

Bumrah showed some resistance before going for a wild swing and was castled by Sachita Pathirana for a 15-ball duck. During his stay at the crease, he put on 17 valuable runs for the ninth wicket with Dhoni.

Rohit Sharma will want Bumrah to be at the top of his game as India have just 112 runs in the bank.
