Jonathan Trott: England might have lost Trent Bridge Test if not for DRS

Jonathan Trott

English batsman Jonathan Trott has admitted in a column that he is a fan of the Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS). He also wrote that the controversial system is there to stay and the teams must learn to accept the use of technology in cricket.

“Don’t forget that without DRS, we might have lost the first Test against Australia. Brad Haddin was originally given not out by the on-field umpire, Aleem Dar, but the TV review showed he’d nicked the delivery from Jimmy Anderson to Matt Prior,” Trott wrote in his column.

He also lauded England captain Alastair Cook for the way he used the review options in the first Test in Trent Bridge.

“Alastair Cook is very calm when it comes to reviewing decisions and doesn’t do anything rash. He’s quite sparing and calculating with the reviews,” Trott added.
