Jos Buttler's ODI centuries: 100-plus strike rate in all of them
From getting out for a duck on his debut One Day International(ODI) against Pakistan in 2012 to being the vice-captain and first-choice wicket-keeper of the English ODI team, Jos Buttler has achieved quite a lot in the six years of his international career.
Vital to the English team in the shorter formats, the hard-hitting batsman can score runs at a brisk pace and get into the top gear at will. After playing 102 matches, he has an impressive strike rate of just under 120. Once, way back in 2013, his career strike-rate went below 100 but it shot back in no time thanks to a 16-ball 47 runs blitz.
Astonishingly, the right-handed batsman has taken less than 100 deliveries for each of his ODI hundreds. Apart from his maiden ton, all others resulted in England's win.
Let us look at these centuries.
#1 121(74 balls) versus Sri Lanka, 2014 (SR 163.51)
In the fourth One Day International(ODI) between England and Sri Lanka, Jos Buttler smashed his first ton in just 61 balls at Lord's.
Invited to bat first, Sri Lanka put 300 runs on the board and while chasing the target, the hosts lost half the side with only 111 runs on the board. Buttler then came in to bat in the 29th over and almost sealed the win for his side.
Enroute his maiden hundred, the attacking batsman hit 11 fours and four sixes. Needing 12 runs to win in the last over, the hosts could only make four as Buttler ran himself out.
