Junaid Khan injured, will miss Tests against Australia

Junaid Khan

Pakistan’s under strength bowling suffered another jolt when they lost their paceman Junaid Khan due to a knee injury.

The 24-year-old will miss the remainder of the one-day series and Tests against Australia in United Arab Emirates after injuring his knee in training.

The Pakistan team now have an even weaker bowling line-up having already lost off-spinner Saeed Ajmal due to suspension for an illegal bowling action. They are also without the services of all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez who injured his hand last week.

Moin Khan, the current manager of the Pakistan cricket team, said that the left-armer twisted his knee in practice and an MRI scan had revealed he will be out of action for up to six weeks.

"Junaid injured a cartilage in his knee during nets on Monday and after an MRI he has been advised a four- to six-weeks´ rest," Moin told AFP.

"He will receive treatment back home. It´s another big blow to us as he is one of our best bowlers in one-days and Tests."

Pakistan are scheduled to play Australia in the second ODI in Dubai on Friday and third in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. The ODIs are followed by two Test matches in the same two cities.
