Kane Williamson tries his hand at left-arm spin bowling

New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson, who is currently in India representing Northern Knights in the Champions League T20 tournament, has confirmed that he is trying his hand at left-arm spin bowling.

The 24-year-old, who is naturally a right-arm off-spinner, was recently banned from bowling by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for chucking. One of cricketing world’s brightest young talents, the right-hander’s limited overs career is on the upswing after his promotion as an opener. He averages 54 this year scoring 432 runs at a strike-rate of 83.07 in 8 innings.

Williamson, who has helped the Knights to get off to a great start in the tournament scoring 52, 14, 53 and 101 in the 4 matches so far, said: "You know, I'll certainly be trying as much as I can. Whether that's trying to do it with the other arm, that would be an interesting process but I'll certainly be giving it a crack."

If he manages to successfully pull this off, he will join the list of game’s rarest breed of ambidextrous cricketers.
