Karbonn Smart KPL 2015: Mangalore United team profile
Retaining Karun Nair was one of the best decisions Karnataka Premier League franchise Mangalore United made.
The right-hand middle order bat slammed a timely ton in the fourth innings to help India ‘A’ pull off a draw against South Africa ‘A’. That knock paved the way for his selection into the Indian team that toured Sri Lanka, The youngster hammered a superb triple ton in the Ranji final in Chennai to help Karnataka retain the National Crown. He became the second State player to get a Triple after opening batsman K.L Rahul had become the first earlier in the season.
His performance in the National Championship earned him a berth in the India ‘A’ teams to play two four-day matches against Australia ‘A’ in Chennai and South Africa ‘A’ in Wynad that is currently taking place.
For their second player, Mangalore United retained speedster Ronit More and then picked offie Udit Patel, keeper-batsman Avinash KC and left-hander Shishir Bavane.
With their core formed, the second edition winners bought Rohan Kadam, Bharat, and T Pradeep for over a lakh each and then settled to pick players to fit into their scheme of things.
Nair has been amongst runs and load of scoring will rest on his powerful shoulder while Ronit and Udit will have to ensure they inflict major damage in the eight overs between them.
Mangalore United tasted success in the second edition of the Premier League and they are craving for that feeling again.
Not boasting big names, this team can create a big flutter and be there at the finish line.
