TOP STAR Catch and Win Contest

The countdown to Karbonn Smart Karnataka Premier League 2015 has begun and the excitement for the tournament is reaching its peak. The Sanjay Godawat Group has announced the Top Star Catch and Win contest where one lucky cricket fan stands a chance to walk away with a whopping Rs. 10,000 during every KPL match.

The first person from the crowd each day to catch a clean-handed six when the ball sails beyond the boundary wins a prize of Rs 10,000.

KSCA’s support for Khalasa-Bhandoli

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on Wednesday showed solidarity to the noble cause of the State in demanding 7.5 TMC of water allocation that goes away as excess into the sea.

A statement issued on Wednesday by KSCA Dharwad Zone, stated thus: “We support the demands of the State for water as water from Khalasa-Bhandoli, the two tributaries in the region, one going to Maharashtra and the other feeding the Mandovi before entering the Sea in Goa, can be of use to at least four districts in Karnataka.

The 7.5 TMC being demanded can ease the demands of drinking water for Belgaum, Dharwad, Gadag and Haveri and also be used for irrigation of agricultural lands.

Replacements cleared for Panthers

KPL franchisee Belagavi Panthers on Wednesday named the three replacement players for their team that will play the Karbonn Smart KPL 2015 fromSeptember 3 to 20.

Confirming this, team CEO, Joseph Hoover said, “The KPL Governing Council (GC) has cleared the replacements made in the team.” He also said that replacements were needed as Akshay Kodoth and Md. Niyas Nisar had commitments that came up and Ruchir Joshi had withdrawn.

The replacements are: Sharath Srinivas, Mahesh Patil, and Nikith Sayanmal.

Kids introduced to cricket

Over a hundred little children were introduced to Kwik Cricket at the Rajnagar Stadium here on Wednesday.

Kwik Cricket, a learner’s kit to cricket is played with specially made plastic bat and balls. Children were split into teams and were segregated into groups to play in the four corners of the stadium.

The process is an initiative by UNIBIC and Moonwalker to popularize the game in the districts and state.
