Karun Nair hopes to be retained by Mangalore United

Karun Nair is all geared up for the new season

Karun Nair would have been a touch disappointed after not getting a call up for the Zimbabwean tour where his state teammates Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey and Stuart Binny were picked, but the stylish middle order batsman is all set to put it behind him and deliver once again in the new season.

He will be playing in this year’s Karnataka Premier League where he hopes he can once again play for Mangalore United. He gave an insight about himself in a short Q&A session similar to the one his Karnataka mates gave last week.

1. How do you remain fit and injury free despite a grueling schedule?

By maintaining a daily routine and staying disciplined.

2.  With hectic schedules how do you find time for family and friends and how do you prioritize your time?

There are always sacrifices to be made by sportsmen. I do spend time with family whenever possible.

3. What motivates you and keeps you going?

The hunger to get better and play at the highest level keeps me going.

4. Do you have any superstitions before a game?

I just wear my left pad first.

5. Given a choice would you like to be retained/bought back by the team you represented last year?

Yes, I would love to play for Mangalore United. I think as a franchise they give their players just the right amount of freedom required.
