Kedar Jadhav joins RCB

Kedar Jadhav playing for the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL

Kedar Jadhav will be donning the red and gold of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Vivo Indian Premier League 2016. Jadhav had previously played in the IPL for Delhi Daredevils and also the now-defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala before that.

Jadhav's transfer from Delhi to RCB was the first trade of the season after the first trading window for the 2016 edition of the IPL was open from December 15, 2015, to December 31, 2015.

Kedar Jadhav has a commendable domestic record of late and scored 344 runs at an average of 57.33 and a strike rate of 104.55 in the 6 matches that he played for Maharashtra in the group stages.

In the IPL, Jadhav has a fairly decent record. He has scored 584 runs in 47 matches at a strike rate of 131.53. Although his average of 22.46 is not highly impressive, his useful contributions in the middle-order will be something that RCB will gladly take.

RCB probably has one of the best batting top-orders in the IPL, but they have struggled to find stability in the middle-order in the last few seasons. The acquisition of Jadhav could prove to be a vital one, come April 2016.

Rajeev Shukla, the IPL Chairman, gave his opinion on the transfer of the 30-year-old Jadhav as a wise one by RCB.

“RCB, who boast of a star-studded batting line-up with the likes of Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers, have added more firepower to their batting by acquiring Kedar Jadhav. All eyes will now be on the auction, where more outstanding cricketers will be up for grabs,” Shukla said.

The team owner of RCB, Dr. Vijay Mallya, also expressed his delight at the Jadhav acquisition, “RCB are very pleased to have acquired Kedar Jadhav who, we believe, has the potential to change the course of a T20 game with his finishing talent with the bat. Kedar will add tremendous value to our middle-order and will complement our existing line-up.”
