Kevin Pietersen faces ire from the Twitter account of Lord's Cricket ground

Kevin Pietersen scored a double ton against India at Lord’s in 2011

One of England’s most successful cricketers, Kevin Pietersen’s on-field achievements have always been overshadowed by the off-the-field controversies and it seems that he has cooked up another when he didn’t include the Mecca of Cricket, the Lord’s in his list of top 10 cricket grounds.

Recently Pietersen conducted a Q&A session with fans on his Twitter account and when he was asked to name top 10 grounds across the world, Pietersen didn’t include the ground where he has scored 5 Test tons and averages 56.13. Despite being one of the most successful batsmen for England in the longest format of the game with 8181 Test runs in 104 matches at an average of 47.28, Pietersen’s international career was jeopardized when he was unceremoniously dumped from England's set-up early in 2014. Accusing him as an ‘egotistical individual’, the England Cricket Board never mended their ways with the prolific batsman and he was left to ply his trade in the lucrative T20 leagues across the world.

The ground might have its own share of disappointment at not being picked by someone who has scored a plethora of runs on its historic track, but somehow the choices can’t be questioned as it was entirely a personal opinion. It might have no connection with his performance on that particular ground and the Twitter handle of the historic ground might just have blown things out of proportion.
