Kevin Pietersen includes Motera and Green Park in his list of 10 worst grounds

Kevin Pietersen hasn’t played an international match since 2014

England batsman Kevin Pietersen, who hasn’t played for the Three Lions since 2014 named Ahmedabad’s Motera and Kanpur’s Green Park among the 10 worst stadiums where he has played cricket in his career.

The 35-year-old cricketer was asked to name the 10 worst stadiums where he played by one of his followers on social networking site Twitter. The South Africa-born cricketer promptly tweeted a list of 10 grounds which he finds the worst.

He tweeted:

Apart from the two Indian stadiums many other notable venues like Guyana (West Indies), Old Trafford (England), Colwyn Bay (Wales), Canberra (Australia), Multan (Pakistan), Leicester (England) and St Kitts (West Indies). These are the grounds which did not find favour from Pietersen.

The right-handed batsman also separately tweeted about The Gabba, Brisbane as the “11th worst ground”.

10 best stadiums

However, the hard-hitting batsman rated Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium as one of the 10 best stadiums where he played cricket. The nine other grounds where he liked playing are Trinidad (West Indies), Adelaide (Australia), The Oval (England), MCG (Australia), Headingley (England), Kingsmead (South Africa), Wellington (New Zealand), Centurion (South Africa) and Barbados West Indies).

Pietersen has good memories of the Wankhede, as in 2012, he played a gem of an innings of 186 on a spinning Mumbai track which was instrumental for England as they won the Test. The brilliant hundred is rated by several cricket pundits as one of the finest by an overseas batsman on Indian soil.

Earlier Pietersen’s list of his best grounds he had ever played at caused a stir as the list had one notable exception. The England batsman didn’t mention the name of Lord’s in his list which is known as the “Home of cricket”.

However, the aggressive middle-order batsman has fond memories of the venue. He has scored five out of his 23 Test centuries at the venue. After failing to make the cut, the Lord's official Twitter account posted a humorous reply.
