Kevin Pietersen lashes out at the reason he was forced to leave South Africa after 16 years

Kevin Pietersen is not one to hold back on sledges on or off the cricket field, but there is one sledge he has waited a very long time to deliver – at the now-tainted Gulam Bodi, for whom KP had been forced to leave South Africa in 2000.

The 37-year-old Bodi’s name now hangs in a shadow of taint, and he was sentenced on Monday to be banned from all forms of cricketing activity for a period of 20 years for his part in abetting match-fixing in South Africa’s domestic T20 tournament.

What this means for KP is that he could throw his gloves off and swing at the one-time rival – calling him a ‘bell-end’, through emoticons.

Pietersen, who is now in England exile, made his foray into the adopted country because of racial policies in South Africa, which had put Bodi at an advantage at a crucial time when the both of them had been youngsters vying for recognition at similar roles.

As Pietersen had said in his autobiography Crossing the Boundary, Bodi being picked ahead of him in the Dolphins team in 2000 was the final straw which had convinced him that he had no future in South African cricket.
